& Then there was you
Not in cups of tea or coffee
But orange slices in beer and borrowed cigarettes
Not elegant or eloquent
But quick with insides
You smiled and I smiled
& I spoke and you heard
You could fix anything,
but you and I
There’s only love
in your body for mine,
spoken, a scream, a whisper
You look without looking
but so deep
you break me
Clumsy you, knocking me off my feet, you always catch yourself
“Why can’t we be friends?”
& Then there was me
in cups of lonely coffee
You slip between fingers that hypnotized you in to
believing you could let go
So let’s go
to the green grass, the water and the weeds
